And the house is FINISHED!!!

Oh my goodness!!! It's been a hell of a year :) So, after 10 rooms, 2000 sq ft and an unknown amount of blood, sweat and tears.... we finally finished.... just in time to put it on the market... ugh... Well, without further ado...

The Kitchen
The Office
Master Bath
The bathrooms were fun to renovate (for me... Ryan HATES redoing bathrooms) We put in granite tile countertops, Kholer sinks, new faucets and polished nickel finishes. The tile is a matte white 12" ceramic with a seafoam green subway tile by waterworks topped off with a natural jade chair rail.

Master Bedroom

Guest Bathroom
Again, we installed a granite tile countertop with new Kohler sinks and faucets. The floor is 2" hexagon ceramic with a tumbled carrera marble inlay. We carried the tumbled marble onto the wall as a chair rail topper. I love it :)

Goin' green...

Just wanted to add this last picture. We put up the shutters, touched up the trimwork and added the landscaping. (Those bushes will get a lot bigger over time) The grass feed is finally kicking in now, and I think the American flag adds a much-needed touch :) The front is officially finished.

A living room we can actually LIVE in!

And the living room is another closed chapter...To date we've done the kitchen, dining room, nook, living room, hallway and office... whew! only 4 more rooms and the landscaping remains :)

Shakin' off the sheet rock...

Yes, we're alive!!! I know we haven't posted anything in quite awhile (I've been verbally bashed by nearly every member of my family)... but I've emerged from the blogger's silence with HUGE improvements to show everyone - and we're even ready to show some of the before and after shots! Yay!!!

Let's begin with the entryway...

Travertine has always looked so rugged and refined to me, a vintage house I went to see in LA once had the most beautiful honed travertine entry... The pocked finish and rusty veins... it was love at first sight. ... and now I have one of my own... even if the scale is a bit off :)

The Kitchen-

We went against our original decision and decided to use granite tile in the kitchen. We minimized the choppy look by slimming the grout lines and using an edge detail. I'm really happy with how it turned out. The backsplash and windowsill is marble subway tile in calcutta gold, finished with an azul limestone capper. The floor is Virginia azul slate.

The rest of the creepy appliances are finally GONE! All stainless now, and does it ever make a difference. Just for fun, I put in the picture of the old kitchen :)

And the outside.... Finally!

The roof has been a long time coming. We recieved a pretty good shock when the roofers came to estimate our re-do and we discovered that our roof had no decking. Turns out that lurking under the asphalt shingles were cedar shingles... our insurance company dubbed the house a fire hazard! We had to move on this as quickly as possible.

And so the roof came off :)

Along the way, we decided it was the perfect time to paint - we didn't have to worry about the overspray on the roof!

It's hard to believe that it's the same house!

More Kitchen Reno!

So, call me crazy but the dingy white, paint-caked formica countertops weren't quite cutting it anymore... So, we decided to go with granite tile in Empire White and pair it up with a Calcutta Marble subway tile backsplash. The combination ended up looking awesome together. We still have to grout the backsplash and epoxy the granite (our countertop tiles are seamless, so regular grout isn't an option). Once we took everything down, we jsut couldn't justify putting the old cooktop and range hood back up, so we bought a new set along with a beautiful cast iron Kohler sink... Those should go in tonight! I'm so excited!
