The Living room gets finished!

So, up went the stucco. Which is really a five stage job, we had to build the framework, apply the drywall, attach the chicken-wire, put up three layers of mortar and THEN stucco... it has taken two weeks just to do this project.

We didn't know initially if we wanted to paint the stucco or leave it, or even possibly plaster it when we were done, but after we lined the opening with slate tiles and got the paint up on the walls we choose to keep it natural. After inspecting the inside of the chimney we noticed that it was discolored from years of fires with no cleaning, so we scrubbed it down and put up a high-temp rustoleum paint that withstands up to 1200 degrees farenheight. It made a huge difference. The wall color is "Comforting" by Behr. It is a soothing, neutral tan with a red undertone, perfect for our Living room since we chose red as our accent color. The room started to have a very nice, organic feel to it.
After we finished painting, Ryan jumped over to the dining room (our temporary living room) and started messing with the cable cords... he was pretty excited about getting the plasma up on the wall... I think this might have been his only motivation in finishing the hardwood floors :)

FINALLY! the living room was ready for us to to move our furniture in :) So, we didnt quite get around to the trim yet... but after all the work on this room, we are happy to take some time off... for now.
