It's all in the details

Ryan and I have been on the search for a dining room set for quite some time now. We both like the rustic contemporary look. I tend to get drawn to feminine patterns and textures, while (surprise) Ryan likes anything masculine. So, it's always interesting finding a compromise.

Ryan and I planned an activity filled weekend with tons of stuff on the agenda. Friday night was date night, and we went to Mockingbird Bistro in Midtown Houston. The Fois Gras and Sweetbreads were awesome... I am so happy to find a good French restaurant in town. Ryan and I get really excited on date night :)Sadly, when Saturday morning came around, Ryan had gotten very sick. So, it was difficult for us to get everything done we wanted to, but we still needed to try.

There's an antique furniture store just down the street from us that I've been dying to check out, so we went down there and found a desk that we wanted to use for our dining room table and a set of chairs that we loved, but the old, purple velvet upholstery was hideous. It was stained in several spots and had missing material... it had to go! So, I went to a local fabric store and found this wonderful Waverly Damask pattern. I thought that Ryan would despise it, but I already loved it too much to turn back! Lucky for me, Ryan thought it was perfect.

We finally got the Dining room set up, and we went ahead and finished off the hallway too, although that didn't need much help.

In the midst of all our renovation and decoration projects, we have somehow accumulated another member of the family... This is Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Monsterface Klooster... She's a trip.
